Background
The National Pediatric Readiness Project Pediatric Readiness Survey measured pediatric readiness in 4149 US emergency departments and noted an average score of 69 on a 100-point scale. This readiness score consists of 6 domains: coordination of pediatric patient care , physician/nurse staffing and training , quality improvement activities , patient safety initiatives , policies and procedures , and availability of pediatric equipment. Purpose
The Pediatric Balance Scale , a modification of Berg's Balance Scale, was developed as a balance measure for school-age children with mild to moderate motor impairments. The purpose of this study was to determine the test-retest and interrater reliability of the PBS.
Methods
To determine test-retest reliability, 20 children with known balance impairments were tested by one examiner on the PBS. Ten pediatric physical therapists independently scored 10 randomly selected videotaped test sessions.
